Musical Illusions Abound
New Scientist has some interesting auditory illusions on their website. It is part of a special issue on music they put out some time ago. Unfortunately you have to subscribe to read the content, but the illusions are up for everyone to hear. Diana Deutsch, a psychology professor at the University of California acclaimed for her research into auditory illusions, has a page with some other interesting illusions, like this great write-up on the tritone paradox. I would be interested to listen to songs that make intentional use of these sorts of illusions.
